| The Fiji Islands comprise of 332
islands scattered over a vast geographical area of 18,333 square
kilometres of pristine natural beauty. The two main islands Viti
Levu and Vanua Levu comprise approximately 85% of the total
landmass and are of volcanic origin.
The largest islands in the
group, Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and Kadavu, are
characterised by uninhabited central mountains which cover a
large portion of the land area. Many of the islands are
surrounded by coral reefs, the most famous of which include the
Great Sea Reef off the north coast of Vanua Levu, the Great
Astrolabe Reef north of Kadavu and Beqa Reef off Beqa Island.
Yaqara is located on the north
side of Viti Levu a short boat trip away from the Mamanuca and
Yasawa island groups and one hours drive from the Nadi
International Airport. |
