PM to open Yaqara satellite facility

The Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase will be chief guest at the launching of Telecom Fiji's new satellite system VTSat Services in Yaqara, Ra on Saturday 11 September 2004.

Mr Qarase will open the Yaqara Satellite Hub Building before unveiling a plaque and touring the facility.

The brand VTSat is formed from the name Viti the Fijian word for Fiji and it is a brand that would surely grow as the project obits around the Fiji Groups of Islands.

The system will enable our rural population to have access to telephones like never before because they do not have to wait for cables and telephone lines to be laid from Telecom Fiji centres to their homes but they are hooked to satellites in an instant.

VTSat will also open our villages and settlements to the world's most comprehensive information hub - the Internet.
