Studio an assetOctober 5, 2004 (from Fiji Times) A LEADING information and technology consultant believes Fiji will have an economic boom once the Yaqara Studio City development is under way. Warren Raisch of Stratton Pacific LLC from the United States said the Yaqara Group Limited had an opportunity to create Yaqara into a small town once the project was under way. "The country is blessed with an outstanding IT outsourcing, which is great for economic growth," Mr Raisch said. Another reason the Yaqara studio project would flourish was the policy of tax incentives the Government had for this type of industry, he said. Under the Fiji legislation, eligible persons who meet certain criteria are eligible to live tax-free in Fiji. "On a very personal note, I firmly believe that Fiji and the Yaqara Group are at a very pivotal point in history and stand ready to make a very significant mark on the current and future generations of the overall Fiji community," Mr Raisch said. He said Fiji would see greater development in business on digital industries. "Telecommunication will improve tremendously in the country and that is a good sign of economic boom," he added. -End- |
